Standing Committees and Commissions - Which ones am I on, and why?
As a Councillor, I have commitments to both our district - District 13, as well as to Council. Part of my commitment to Council is serving on Standing Committees, advisory committees, boards and commissions, and that is a very good thing. While any Councillor can attend and speak at any meeting, only members of the committee can vote. To best serve my district, I selected positions where I can best contribute, as well as where the decisions made will serve the goals we want to achieve. The standing committees I serve on are:
- Environment and Sustainability Standing Committee - also nominated to the Nova Scotia Solid Waste Resource Management Committee
- Grants Committee
- Appeals Standing Committee
- Heritage Advisory Committee
- Women and Gender Equity Advisory Committee
- Executive Standing Committee
I take all of these appointments very seriously, and I look forward to contributing District 13's voice.
The Councillor in the polling district that includes Peggy's Cove is also required to sit on the Peggy's Cove Commission, and so I am a member of that, as well.
